Got the agate bug? Save this date.

I don’t know about you folks, but one of the no-cost things my kids love to do is look through rocks. If they can then throw them in a nearby body of water, that’s icing on the cake.

With that in mind, here’s some information on the 5th Annual Agate Festival at Boulder Lake Environmental Center (on the other side of Duluth) in October.

Where: Boulder Lake Environmental Learning Center

When: October 9, 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Cost: $6 per adult, $3 per child, or $18 family rate

Join our family fun event and learn all about agates and the local geology. This is an open house style event, come and go as you please. The schedule of events will be provided at the event. Snacks and refreshments provided.

1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

· Talks and Events: Sawdust Scramble, How Agates Form, How to find Agates, and Geology of the North Shore.

2:30-3:30 p.m.

· Gravel Pit Scramble, Agate Hunt and Prizes
